I find it amusing that right-wing ultraconservative Christian insist the U.S. is founded to be Christian nation yet balks at the thought of the U.S. government acting like an actual Christian by helping the less fortunate.
ReplyDeleteThe first quote is not Washington's. It's John Adams. I think I've seen the site you got these from. By yeah the founders were deists mostly, republicans think they were old school fundamentalists. I wrote a letter to my local paper about woman insisting otherwise and I had to verbally (or writtenly..?) battle some other theocracy loving old person every other day on the opinion page.
